Dena has a thing about baby hair … she likes to let it grow and grow and grow and grow and grow. Her baby is nearing 3, and she asked me to photograph his long hair in preparation for his first haircut.
My first attempt was a bust – I really needed Dena there as an “assistant” to help occupy the little guy while I attempted the close ups. In the end, it took both of us shooting and a bowl of chocolate chips to record the last bit of “baby” Cameron. And I’m so glad we did … because after a weekend snow storm and a serious bout of cabin fever, this long hair is no more. I still can’t believe she did it.

This wonderful, darling, sleepy, snuggly and curious brand new baby boy is being welcomed into a very kind and loving home. I love witnessing the awe and love and commitment as new parents take a fragile little being into their hands and begin a life together as a family. sigh. The hardest part of my job is sometimes leaving the magic of those moments behind to go back to my own routine. I never leave unaffected and untouched. Thank you to the 100s of families who share this sacred part of their lives with me.
repeat after me: “I will not get baby fever, I will NOT get baby fever…I will not…”

About a year ago I posted some detail shots of my new baby monkey (the original shots are here). Well, my new baby isn’t so new anymore! He turned one last month (sob!) and I figured it was time for a new round of close-ups. It’s amazing how quickly we forget all those chubby little baby fingers and toes, isn’t it? I’m so grateful my light-sleeper napped just long enough for me to capture these:

Of course I can’t show all those little baby parts without showing the “whole”. Here he is, just before he startled and woke up (I wasn’t anywhere near finished photographing him, darn it!):

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

I know we’re a little late saying it, but happy 2010! We are officially back in the office after a nice long holiday break and are excited about the coming year. We are bringing in new collections, offering framing (yay!), and are planning to launch an incredible new project. Most importantly, we are feeling rejuvenated and inspired and can’t wait to share our art with you over the coming months.
Here’s to hoping 2010 continues as well as it started!

Most definitely not! I absolutely love this sibling shot from a session in Northern Virginia last weekend:

This session is definitely a favorite from the year, so I can’t help but post a few more from this sweet and spirited bunch, starting with a big dose of sweet. This little guy is so, so yummy.

We are busy busy busy processing holiday orders and hope to have everything wrapped and shipped by the end of the month. Yay!
Love to all,
Rebecca

Dena and I had a fabulous time shooting in Washington D.C. this past weekend. I’m sorting through images now and came across this gem. Doesn’t it make you smile? What a sweet, chubby, adorable, pensive little dude!

More images to come soon …
Love to all,
Rebecca
We are in the thick of it with our busy busy busy holiday portrait season! Whew. Here is another round of our wonderful little friends from Glee Kids. Thank you so much to Melissa Russell, boutique owner and friend, for another successful collaboration. We love both Melissa and all her lovelies in her shop. Be sure to stop by and see her!
