Ready, Set, Go!
I know I promised a post earlier this week, but a computer upgrade that was supposed to take 24 hours ended up taking much, much longer. I am happy to say that my “MacDreamy” is in working order and I am finally ready to announce Utah photo sessions. Yay!
This year we’ll be taking both mini sessions and full sessions … all the details can be seen here. Utah sessions traditionally book very quickly so please book in early if you’re hoping for a Darling Art session. As added incentive, we’ll be gifting 5 web-sized digital files (perfect for posting on blogs or facebook) to all who book before Wednesday, July 1st. As always, please direct any questions you have to info@darling-art.com
xoxo,
Rebecca
p.s. I promised this Raleigh family a sneak peek this week. These boys definitely made me work for it - but in the end it’s always worth it. Aren’t they adorable?

As Sweet As Can Be
This pint-sized Chapel Hill native was an absolute pleasure to photograph. She’s at that golden age where she’s sitting well but not yet crawling (which means she can’t run away from my camera!) and old enough to be oozing with adorable baby personality. At 7-months, she’s rolly polly baby perfection.
I promised Mom a sneak peek sometime this weekend so without further ado, meet the latest Darling Art darling:

Quilts from Grandma
I was recently commissioned to photograph 3 gorgeous children in Durham and was given a unique assignment: photograph each child with their special handmade quilt from Grandma. What a fun challenge! I have so many favorites from our morning together and thought I’d share a few as a sneak peek for Mom.

It’s going to be a hot weekend in Chapel Hill (100 degrees - ack!). Stay cool and have a good one.
xoxo,
Rebecca
p.s. we only have one spot left for the photography mentoring in Salt Lake City on July 22nd. Details can be found here. All booked. Thanks everyone!

Coming Soon …
I’ve received several emails regarding Utah photo sessions that go something like this: Have you started booking yet? Have sessions filled up? Am I too late to book in? Let me answer all those questions: nope, nope and nope!
We plan to announce dates and details for Utah photo sessions early next week (think Monday or Tuesday) and will open up booking then - so stay tuned! If you’re interested in photography mentoring, we have only two one spot left in our group mentoring session in Salt Lake City on July 22nd. Details are here.
xoxo,
Rebecca

Brothers
These beautiful 7-day-old identical twin boys belong to my Darling Art assistant and dear friend Nicole. If their first official photo session is any indication of temperament, Nicole is one lucky Mama. These boys were absolutely dreamy the entire session.

Location Search
Update 6/21: We’ve got all our locations worked out. Thanks all!
With Utah group mentoring and mini-sessions next month, we are in need of finding a few homes in both the Salt Lake Valley and Utah Valley areas to shoot in. The group mentoring session will be held in the Holladay neighborhood of Salt Lake City on July 22nd and we need one more shooting location in or near that area. We’re also planning to shoot mini sessions in both Salt Lake City and in Provo/Orem on Monday, July 20th and Thursday, July 23rd. We are looking for homes with ample natural light and architectural interest. If you have a beautiful home that you wouldn’t mind sharing with us, send an email to info@darling-art.com. Please include a few snapshots of the inside of your home as well as few pictures of your children (ages 4 years and older preferred for the group mentoring shoot). If we chose your home you’ll receive a free Darling Art session along with a generous print credit.
I look forward to hearing from you!
xoxo,
Reb
p.s. We’ve had a few spots open up for the group mentoring sessions. It’s going to be an amazing day. You can view all the details here.
p.p.s. I’ll leave you with images from past Utah sessions. Enjoy!

One of me …
It’s not often I’m in front of the camera. After setting up this shot on Sunday I handed my camera off to my husband and told him to go for it. I’m in so few of our personal photos that I’m making an effort to try to actually be in some of our family images. What a novel idea.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Registration Open for Photography Mentoring
Update 6/21: We’re all booked up! Thanks so much for a wonderful response.
Yay! Registration for a day of group mentoring on July 22nd in Salt Lake City is officially open. We had a wonderful response to our idea for group mentoring and are expecting the session to fill quickly. Details along with a registration form and payment options can be found by clicking here: Utah Mentoring.
Next up: Utah photo sessions (both full sessions and mini-sessions). Stay tuned for details later this week.
xoxo,
Rebecca
p.s. I’ll leave you with some images taken of my monkeys this last weekend. Baby Owen is as sweet as can be and getting so big!

What do you think?
I’ve mentioned a few of my incredibly talented photographer friends on the {Hello, Darling} Blog before … you met Anna of Indie Art Photography, here and here. And Dena of Dena Robles | Photographer here and here. Well, Anna and Dena and I are thinking of teaming up for a day of group mentoring in Utah this July to accommodate the growing number of requests we each get for mentoring sessions. Here’s what we’re thinking:
A day of mentoring in Salt Lake City on either Tuesday, July 21st or Wednesday, July 22nd for people wanting to take their photography to the next level. Participants will get a chance to watch (and participate in) a photo session and learn post-processing techniques from each photographer as well as ask all the questions they can think of. The cost for a full-day of mentoring with all three of us would be around $500.
What we are hoping to find out is a) does this sound interesting? b) what date works best for you (July 21st or the 22nd)? and c) is there anything else you’d be interested in learning? We would really, really love to hear from you. Please leave your feedback either in the comments section below or email info@darling-art.com. Only serious inquiries or feedback please.
Of course, I can’t help but feature some work from my amazing friends. Both have been photographing and teaching/mentoring for some time now and are not only wonderful photographers but also incredible women. How lucky you would be to meet and learn from both of them!

A Story Book Ending
Once upon a time, two families lived in Boston and each sent their 2nd child (one a boy, the other a girl) to the same preschool. And one day, after an incident involving side-by-side easels and an event known as “The Great Paint Rebellion”, these two children became best friends. It wasn’t long before their photographer-Moms became wonderful friends too. Eventually, the girl and her family moved to England and the boy and his family moved to North Carolina but thanks to modern conveniences like the Internet and frequent-flier miles, these two families (and the 2 moms especially) have continued to grow closer.
For years, these photographer preschool-moms-turned-friends (who we’ll inconspicuously call Rebecca and Dena, ha ha) have dreamed of working together and wouldn’t you know it, their dream is about to come true. Rebecca and Dena are about to launch several joint ventures … starting with shooting/mentoring together in Utah and Boston this year. The perfect ending to a sweet little story, don’t you think?
Details on Utah mentoring, mini-sessions and full sessions coming soon. In the meantime, I’m thrilled to showcase some of Dena’s gorgeous work on my blog. Her work has got such depth and soul … I am truly in awe of Dena’s talent and so so excited to be working with her.
xoxo,
Rebecca
